September 8 Meeting

We had a good meeting, shared great info from our Critiques. Natalie's critique was a real blessing!

News From The Meeting

1. Critiques: To avoid assigning people who may not want to participate, I'll be sending an email asking people to sign up for critiques if they are interested in receiving feedback from another Word Addict.

2. Assignment: Jenna and Cortney have decided on a group messaging system that will meet all our needs. They will present it to us at our next meeting.

3. Assignment: We'll make sure our logo is maintained across platforms so people can identify our group from among other pages with similar names.

4. Word Addicts Marketing: Amy J, Amy S and Cortney will be asked to discuss what kinds of books we will and will not officially market under our logo and accounts. Language, sexual content, political, religious, etc...should all be part of the discussion.

August 2021 Meeting

Here are the meeting minutes and reminders from our August meeting. It was a fantastic meeting. I really loved it and I’m so thankful to those that came and contributed! It was really one of the good ones!! (Did I make those of you who couldn’t come jealous yet? - I’ll fill you in on what you missed ;) Carin started our meeting with a lesson on her experience with the book “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron. It was very inspirational and Carin did such a wonderful job of connecting creativity with our life and our spirits and our connection to a higher power. She conveyed her feelings about how creativity is innate in us and by cultivating it and releasing it we can improve so much about ourselves and our lives. This is a very watered down version of her lesson so I hope I am doing an okay job of explaining it. I’ll send a pic of her handout below. September 2021 Meeting

September 14, 2021 Ray, Homer and Marla enjoy a pleasant evening during our September meetup. •The meeting was held on James’ birthday in his adorable backyard and it was a lovely night. Great food, great ambiance, great people. I’ll post pics at the end of the email ;) •James gave us a rundown of the online stuff. We have about 60 Word Addicts members total and 120 email subscribers. We have 2,000 Twitter followers, 80 Instagram Followers (better than 10 I guess haha!), and 600+ Facebook followers/friends. •A huge benefit for members is the online presence and promotion that we offer as a group. The requirements to receive these benefits are as follows: -Be local member -Write for the blog once a year -Contribute in some way to the yearly anthology •To get a book promoted (3 social media posts and an email), authors have to write a short article on a very narrow topic. January 12, 2021 Meeting

Date: January 12, 2021 Place: Fountain Green General Store, 84 S Main Fountain Green, UT Time: 6:30 p.m. We had a big meeting this month. I think that will be our January meeting from year to year: A lot of big decisions. Direction For Word Addicts We had a whirlwind year last year with huge changes and big goals. As the dust has settled, here's the direction we've found: We have our local Word Addicts and our expanded group of Word Addicts. We will have our local meetings where we conduct writing exercises and give feedback, etc...Then we will have our expanded group who will participate in our anthology. This will include local and non-local writers. The expanded anthology group will do all of its work online through messaging apps, email, Google Docs, Google Meet, etc...
